Welcome to the Rhythms of Our Own Drum and Dance Festival website! The Alberta International Percussion Society, in partnership with Arts on the Ave and Kaleido 2011, will beat the drum in Edmonton at the second annual Rhythms of Our Own Drum and Dance Festival.

Workshops

This year’s Festival will include added workshops from a wide variety of percussion and dance forms. Ever wanted to “tip” a bodhrán, or bang on a djembe? Is belly dancing on your bucket list? Do you want to learn about the health and spiritual benefits of drumming and dancing? Rhythms of Our Own brings together a list of the most talented percussionists and dancers in Alberta to teach you!

Rhythms of Our Own Drum Circles

Drum Circles

Perhaps you would prefer an informal drumming experience; we encourage you to join any of our very popular drum circles, all led by Alberta’s most talented drum circle facilitators. Drum circles are by donation (suggested donation $5).

About the Organizers

The Alberta International Percussion Society is a non-profit volunteer based organization whose mission is to establish a community-oriented, annual music festival focused on percussion music in all its forms. Our vision is to emphasize the interaction between professional and amateur musicians, as well as between musicians and dancers, and the accessibility of drumming as a creative, enjoyable and therapeutic activity for all ages and levels that promotes peace and harmony.

On behalf of the board of directors of the Alberta International Percussion Society and our many valued volunteers, we welcome all to visit Kaleido 2011 from September 9th through 11th, and Rhythms of our Own Drum and Dance Festival on Sunday September 11th, 2011.
